Began military service with the US Army Reserve while a student at Farmington High School. Enlisted in the US Navy in 1958 and served 4 years. Entered the USAF two days after discharge from the Navy. Was Commissioned in the USAF (2d Lt.) in 1973 as a Biomedical Sciences Officer.
