Reuben Boehlke's Enclosure to the Letter to the Lubke's
At the time of Oscar's death Norman and Alan Lubke visited the Farmington High School Superintendent to propose a memorial award in their father's name.  Norman's idea was enthusiastically accepted on the spot and confirmed by this "Letter to the Lubke's" from Superintendent Boehlke dated November 21, 1968.

The following is information related to the Oscar Lubke Scholarship Award:

     A.  At its regular meeting the Farmington School Board accepted a scholarship sponsored by the Lubke family as a memorial to Oscar J. Lubke, former teacher, coach, civic worker and businessman, to perpetuate continued interest in academic scholarship, athletics, recreation, citizenship and high ethical and moral standards among our youth.

    B.  The name of the award is the Oscar Lubke Scholarship Award.

    C.  The award shall consist of a large trophy based in the trophy case, giving the name of the trophy and a plaque large enough to have the name of the recipient and the year awarded engraved on it. A small trophy, a proper certificate and a $25.00 US Savings Bond shall be awarded to the recipient.

   D.  The trophies and certificate shall be chosen by a representative member or members of the Lubke family and the high school principal and a standing order for normal delivery shall be placed with the vendor with invoice mailed to representative member of the Lubke family. The certificate shall be signed by a member of the Lubke family and the high school principal.

    E.  The award shall be based on academic scholarship, successful athletic and recreational experience, noteworthy citizenship and high ethical and moral standards.

    F.  The winner shall be selected annually from the high school graduating class by a committee made up of the high school principal as chairman with power, the senior high school counselor and the athletic director.

    G.  The award shall be presented at the annual high school award day with the selection made early enough so that the trophy can be properly engraved and a representative member from he Lubke family may be notified of the selection and invited to the presentation exercises. A member of the family may wish to make the presentation.

    H.  The funds for defraying the expenses of the award shall be furnished by a special fund created by donations and contributions or funds of the late Oscar Lubke and such donations which his family may make from time to time.
