Mr. Lubke, a former well-known coach at Farmington, Montevideo, and Hastings, died suddenly while golfing at the Hastings country club at 9 a.m. Sunday with friends, Al Fischer and Harold Reisinger, and Robert Erickson. Death was due to apparent coronary thrombosis. Mr. Lubke coached the Farmington basketball team to six consecutive basketball championships, and four consecutive league football titles. His Montevideo football team won four out of five championships. In later years, his interests were devoted to his insurance agency and to civic interests such as the Youth Commission, the Boy Scout and Girl Scout organizations. His teams were always highly successful and once he earned the title of "Minnesota Coach of the Year." Returning to Farmington he entered partnership with Arnold Kruse in the auction and insurance business. Mr. Kruse eventually kept the auction portion of the business and Mr. Lubke stayed with the insurance.
