Mail for Sarge at Astascadero State Hospital (ASH) - Go to Next Page
Tuesday April 21, 2009, Mr. Sargent (first name) Binkley (last name) was transferred to Atascadero State Hospital (ASH) from the Santa Clara County Dept of Correction Elmwood Complex in Milpitas, CA where he had been since February 20, 2009. He is in good spirits, according to his mother, Jane Ellen Binkley. Here is the full story from an email from Duncan MacVicar of the West Point Band of Brothers:

"I just received a call from the Binkleys. Sargent called them from Atascadero State Hospital to tell them that he has been transferred there to start his six-month stay.

You might recall that in January Judge Condron placed Sargent into this hospital for a minimum stay of six months of treatment and evaluation, which was the defense's recommendation. Following that period, he will either be released or be retained for additional treatment. The problem was that there were not any empty rooms at that hospital for him. So he has spent the past three months in county jail, waiting. And the three months of waiting do not count against the six month placement. How terribly unfair.

But what a relief to hear this good news today!

Alan, can you please forward this message to your full list of supporters?

Thanks. Duncan MacVicar"

"If it were really a matter of a shortage of bed space at ASH, I would be less angry. It was actually a delay in paperwork processing. - EGF"
