http://www.bethgrossman.com/currentexhibit/index.html A Winters Tale Interactive environmental art project with artists, Christine Baeumler and Beth Grossman in Alheim/Licherode, Germany, August 3- 12, 2007 Beth and Christine will be setting up a portable shelter ice fishing house to evoke a winter scene in several small German towns and to attract and invite local residents, both young and old. We will interview residents about their memories and folklore of winter. Through these anecdotes and historical depictions, we will investigate and creatively document how the seasons have been altered by climate change, as they have in the US, and how these changes have been experienced by the inhabitants? Ironically, we would be conjuring memories of winter during the height of summer. We will also create work of art that would poetically
reflect our experience and inspiration from working with your community
and its diverse stories. Our intention is to heighten awareness of our
relationship with nature, which increases our connection to the land
and develops our desires to care for it. The «artwork» is
not only a final art piece, but the value of the interactions and insights
gained by community engagement and exchange. |
