Miss Ostrem, "Gloria Sawai" to the Governor
General of Canada, was a popular teacher with her students at Farmington
High School in Farmington, Minnesota. As a result, after her departure
from our campus in 1956, she was meticulously tracked by the officer
in charge of class reunions. When she became a famous, award winning
author, that officer, one Bill May, "Farmer of the Year" to
the population of Dakota County, Minnesota, organized a special homecoming
in 2003.
